Origins of the Term"Broad"

Today at lunch the question came up about the origins of the term "broad" when it is used to referr to women. Here is what I found on urban dictionary:

The term originated in the 1930's meaning woman; derived from the fact that the most defining characteristic of all females are their hips, which are proportionally wider than the hips of their male counterparts.

Speaking of hips, here we can see a picture of International singing sensation Shakira...her hips were imortilized in her hit song "Hips don't Lie.

The Ugly Truth

So I am always down for a good rom com but this kind of missed the mark for me. All the parts that were about to be cute were ruined by rounchy and crude jokes. They should have cleaned this up some, gotten the PG-13 rating, and made a better movie for a bigger audience. I love the concept though.
