Well Played, GQ

In the January 2011 issue of GQ, the editors tackle an uncomfortable idea I've been unable to put into words. They say:
Here's what we'd like to see happen. Jon [Stewart], admit that you're doing a news show...You don't have to stop taking shots...just quit taking them from a duck blind marked LOL J/K.
Don't get me wrong, I love Jon Stewart. He is a legitimate and entertaining source of news. Like it or not, he's become part of the news media in our country and it's cheap for him to keep insisting he's not.

Word of the day

Authentic
The Oxford English dictionary says it means, "of undisputed origin; genuine."
What's it mean for you? Think about what you wear. Is it the same thing you've been wearing for 10 years? That doesn't make it inherently good or bad but a little change is always nice. Now when you make that change think about making a little throwback to what you wore as a kid or in high school. The new you will be exciting and fresh but still you. Maybe it's the alma mater sweatshirt on game day or maybe its your grandfather's watch but its not an excuse to dress like you're still in middle school.

IBM's smartest employee. Who is WATSON?

IBM has developed a computer with the task of competing in Jeopardy! against human opponents. Watson, as it is called, will have to analyze clues, recognize subtleties and understand regular spoken language. The video is really interesting (and a bit humorous).

Frustrated in arguments?

Ever find yourself in an argument thats impossible to win because your opponent is living in some fantasy land where the facts don't exist?

Microsoft vs Google: The Battle Continues

So Microsoft is putting a version of Microsoft Office online for free. The are afraid that Google Apps is starting to tap its market share. Below there is a link to the article in the NY Times that talks all about it. Or you could read the summary below. I took the article and auto-summerized it in Microsoft word...I thought that would be appropriate. Basically this is the beauty of capitalism. People say the Microsoft is a monopoly, which is arguable, but with Google Apps coming into the game it is balancing things out. Capitalzism has proved itself again, got to love it.

Microsoft has created a chimera in its new Office 2010 software, part desktop software and part Web app. For the first time, Microsoft will provide a free online version of Office that lets people store their documents on the Web rather than on their personal computers. If all goes according to Microsoft’s plan, this technology, along with a host of other features, will persuade businesses and consumers to upgrade their Office software once again. “I think Office has run away from its users,” said David Girouard, the president of Google’s business software group. Over the last three years, Microsoft’s share of the office software market has remained static at 94 percent, according to the research firm Gartner. Microsoft’s business software group brought in $19 billion last year. The vast size of this productivity empire and the software’s growing complexity has made Office a popular target for Microsoft’s competitors over the years. About 25 million people have signed up for Google Apps, the company’s online suite of software that is similar to Microsoft’s business products. Many large companies skipped over previous versions of Microsoft’s Windows operating system software and continue to rely on four- to five-year-old computers. It will then guide customers away from traditional applications like Microsoft Office to cheaper online alternatives.

Men are saying "Bye Bye to Bling"

That's what ManStallions have been saying all along. Here is an interesting article from the LA Times about the decline of men wearing flashy jewelry. What I take from this is article is that more and more men are starting to move towards the ways of the ManStallion.

ManStallion Mail Bag

Guest If I saw a manstallion naked, would my head explode?

Only those worthy or those deemed as friendly to ManStallions are safe from this rather gruesome, yet effective, form of ManStallion defense. Luckily ManStallions are rather friendly in their natural habitat so the masses are safe for the most part. The most recent incedient involing a naked ManStallion unfortunately resulted in the tragic Seest Fireworks Disaster. While vacationing in the Danish town of Kolding a fellow ManStallion was spotted naked and a paparazzi frenzy ensued, everyone wanting to chatch a glimpse of this wonder. The events that followed are still a bit hazy but in the end one paparazzi lost his life via exploding head which then set off a chain reaction in a near by firework wearhouse.

Guest do manstallions play videogames? if so what kind?

For sure, from time to time ManStallions enjoy engaging is some video game play. Most of the time we prefer multiplayer games so we can interact with and dominate our opponents.
